Benjamin Mee saw a dolphin when he was a child. After that he is in love with animals and how clever they are and he decides (αποφασίζει) to study Psychology and Science Journalism.
He becomes (γίνεται) a journalist.
He writes for newspapers and magazines all over the world. he also talks on the radio.
In 2004 he moves with his family to Southern France and begins writing a book about Humour in Man and Animals. In France his wife Katherine becomes ill and dies. His father dies soon too. Then, his mother who lives alone and wants to live with her son and grandchildren has a brilliant idea. "Why don't we buy a big house to live all together?"
In 2004 Benjamin and his family find a large house, and they find lots of wild and dangerous animals living in the grounds. It is a zoo! They know that if no one buys the zoo the animas must die. So, in 2006 they buy the zoo with the house to save the animals.
It is a very difficult at the beginning. No one visits the zoo. They know that they need a lot of money to fix everything and make people come back to the zoo. They work very hard and the Zoo opens in 2007.
Benjamin writes a book: "We Bought A Zoo" and the zoo becomes famous. BBC makes a documentary about it and then in 2011 becomes a Hollywood film.
Dartmoor Zoological Park, remains (παραμένει) open today. Ιν 2014 Benjamin donates (δωρίζει) the zoo to the Dartmoor Zoological Society. Benjamin is the CEO of the charity and continues to live on site with his two children.
